The battle for Peleliu is far less known than some of the other battles in the Pacific but it was one of the most savage and brutal of all the island hopping campaigns. This sculpture shows two marines with one of the very few captured Japanese taken in this battle. I based the faces of the marines on Tom Leas painting The Two-Thousand Yard Stare.
