After the smashing victory at Kharkov in 1943 by the SS Panzer Korps the last great victory in the east, troops of the Leibstandarte were honoured with the renaming of the enormous red square in the city centre as the Platz-Der-Leibstandarte for their role in achieving such a stunning victory. This sculpture shows two of the young dynamic officers SS Standartenfuhrer Fritz Whitt and Joachim Peiper.
