This sculpture is based on the climax of the 1969 film True Grit. One eyed marshall Rooster Cogburn comes up against Ned Peppers gang of outlaws. When they scoff at his orders to throw down their guns Wayne shouts ‘fill your hands you son of a bitch’ and rides into the entire gang. With pistol in one hand, rifle in the other and the reigns between his teeth he decimates the entire group.
